Our Lady is Safeguarded a Night Prior to Her Festivity
San Luis de la Paz, Gto. Monday, August 15, 2011. Last night, when we visited the Parish of The Three Hail Marys, better known as La Virgencita, we testified with joy that the tradition of safeguarding the Virgin Mary a night prior to her festivity continues. After a few years, because we were away from San Luis de la Paz, we came back to live again this beautiful custom. Outside of the temple, a dance group paid tribute to her. Inside, people formed a long line to view her, lying within a showcase, and to leave her a letter with their wishes, just like we used to do when we were children (According to a belief, on August 15 it is celebrated the assumption of the Virgin, and she will take to heaven people´s wishes). The San Jose choir dedicated her love songs, as other musical groups did, alternating every couple of hours throughout the night.
