The History of Mineral de Pozos
Por
Mineral de Pozos, Gto. Thursday, May 17, 2012. In 1576, with the construction of a defensive fort against the Chichimeca Indians, called Palmar de Vega, this singular town rich in minerals, history, and admirable places was born. Among silver and other precious metals, the later called Porfirio Diaz City forged its legend and importance. The abandonment came with the Mexican Revolution and other factors. But today, just like the Phoenix bird, it rises from its ashes, to attract artists, films and tourists as Mineral de Pozos, Magic Town.
In the pre-Hispanic era, just before the arrival of the Europeans, the region was populated by tough Chichimeca Indians. In 1576, the Spanish conquerors constructed in the place a fortress to protect the Silver Route, which ran from Zacatecas to Mexico City, from the frequent assaults of the natives. This fort was called Palmar de Vega, and the village was born with the same name.
Since the Chichimeca could not be submitted militarily, missionaries from the Company of Jesus were sent to appease them. The Jesuits realized the mineral wealth of the area and taught European skills to the natives for the extraction and processing of metals.
From such education survive until

In addition to creating her heavily collected fine art such as is being presented here, Miller works professionally as a scenic painter for major television and movie productions.
The artist arrived early in Pozos to create the fantastical mural installation in the entry of the gallery to compliment a stunning group of brightly colored, portrait-based canvases depicting figures and symbols drawn from the rich cultures of the Old West including cowboys (AND COWGIRLS!) charreada and rodeo and soldadera heros. San Luis Commemorates the Battle of Puebla
Por
San Luis de la Paz, Gto. Saturday, May, 5 2012. San Luis de la Paz commemorated the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Puebla at the Matamoros Esplanade. City Mayor Javier Becerra led the ceremony, in which participated some municipal schools. In his speech, the Mayor said: "The Mexican defended their homeland more with the soul than arms". On this date, our thoughts travel to the United States, where our fellow countrymen celebrate May 5 with pride.
At 8:46 a.m., started the act in which we remembered how the Mexican army defeated the powerful French military in 1862. The war band of the Gregorio Torres Quintero School and the flag colors of the TV High School 384 were responsible for the honors to the flag. Students of La Paz Institute interpreted the Mexican national anthem.
Some days ago, when we watched a program in the Discovery Channel about this battle, we learned that even for Benito Juarez, the Mexican President then, it was a surprise this victory. Also, we realized that one of the key factors was the involvement of our indigenous people. Europeans were not used to fight with someone like them, who used a machete.
Congratulations fellow citizens

La Virgencita Celebrates Mass for the Day of the Child
Por
San Luis de la Paz, Gto. Monday, April 30, 2012. "Let the children come to me", mentioned the Gospel in the Holy Mass celebrated by Father Juan Jose Teran at La Virgencita Parish, on the occasion of the Day of the Child. Literally, the kids got close; as they climbed to the altar at the request of the priest during the consecration. At the end of the Sacred Ceremony, the same cleric blessed them, as well as the images of the Divine Child Jesus.
Dozens of children accompanied by their parents met at 11: 00 a.m. in the Three Hail Marys Parish, for the special Mass for the Day of the Child. It was a unique service, since the youngsters participated actively; they sang, chaperoned Father Teran on the altar and approached to receive the holy water, along with their images. The purity of the infants is something that we must recover, because as the Gospel of today added "That one which does not accept the Kingdom of God like a child, shall not enter therein."

The History of Our Main Garden
Por
San Luis de la Paz, Gto. Sunday, April 29, 2012. The Main Garden, located in the historic center, is the heart of San Luis de la Paz. From Colonial times, the social, political, and religious life of the city has developed around it. Currently, it is a beautiful place of rest, with leafy trees which provide a fresh shadow to walkers. It is certainly the favorite gathering place of the Ludovicenses, from lovers to the inhabitants of the communities who come every Sunday. Over the centuries, it has had a series of transformations that we will narrate here.
The Main Garden, also known as the Manuel Doblado Garden, the Plaza de la Paz or simply the Garden, has its origins in the Viceroyalty Era. In their villages, the Spaniards built in the same area the parish, the government palace and a public square. The oldest map of San Luis de la Paz, which dates back to 1635, shows that the parish already existed. But by then it was in La Banda neighborhood, where the Jesuits originally installed.
It was until 1660 that the Jesuits moved from there to the current town center, and began to build the San Luis Rey
