Bendicen Mascotas en el Día de San Antonio Abad

San Luis de la Paz, Gto. Martes, 17 de enero de 2012. Perros, gatos, pericos, borregos, patos, y hasta gallos fueron bendecidos esta tarde en el atrio de la Parroquia de Las Tres Ave Marías, en el Día de San Antonio Abad, Patrón de los Animales.

Desde minutos antes de las 5:00 p.m., hora en que inició la ceremonia, se vieron desfilar las mascotas con sus orgullosos amos con rumbo a La Virgencita. Algunos fueron adornados con moños, e iban jalados por correa, otros llevados en brazos y varios más en jaulas.

Los cientos de asistentes, la mayoría en familia, escucharon las palabras del Padre Juan Pablo Martínez Olivares, en las que expresó la importancia que tienen los animales en los hogares, y el cariño que les tiene la gente.

Mascotas y dueños recibieron el agua bendita, se tomaron una foto del recuerdo y admiraron los otros animales que ahí estaban. Juntos regresaron a casa, llamando la atención de los que los veía pasar. Se fueron contentos porque la tradición continúa.

Pets are Blessed on the Day of Saint Anthony, Abbot

San Luis de la Paz, Gto. Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Dogs, cats, parrots, sheep, ducks, and even roosters were blessed this evening in the atrium of the Three Hail Marys Parish, on the day of Saint Anthony, The Abbot, patron saint of the animals.

Minutes before 5: 00 p.m., when the ceremony began, the pets paraded with their proud masters heading to La Virgencita. Some were decorated with ribbons, and were walking with a leash; others were carried in arms and several more in cages.

Hundreds of attendees, mostly in family, heard the words of Father Juan Pablo Martinez Olivares, which expressed the importance of animals in homes, and the affection that people have for them.

Pets and owners received the holy water, took a photo of remembrance and admired the other animals which were there. Together, they returned home, drawing the attention of those who saw them pass. They left happy, because the tradition continues.
