San Luis de la Paz, Gto. Friday, November 25, 2011. Vergel de Bernalejo, community located north of the municipal seat, is a wonder of nature. The enigmatic Bernalejo Hill, the green and thick forest, the mysterious rock formations and the surprising Bridge of God make the place a fascinating tourist attraction. This beautiful spot is ours. Enjoy it!
To get to Vergel de Bernalejo at a good time, we left San Luis de la Paz very early, before sunrise. At the beginning of the mountain range, before Mesa de Jesus, we stopped to take pictures of the mist which covered the peaks, and gave the impression of being a large body of water, as if it was a lake.
The gorgeous forest of Vergel, today declared part of the Reserve of the Biosphere of the Sierra Gorda of Guanajuato, welcomed us just a few minutes after 8 a.m. When we had before our eyes the Bernalejo Hill, which so many times we saw through pictures, it impressed us even more.
For hours, we walked up and down the hills. It was a strenuous hike, but it was well worth it. This site is a delight. Despite belonging to our municipality, not many have visited it. Today, we invite the people to do so. But, please respect the ecology. Do not litter it or destroy it.
